Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, on Wednesday, said the third case of coronavirus in the state died of COVID-19 complications.
Recall that State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, has said the woman died at the Intensive Care Unit of Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, on Wednesday.
The deceased, a pregnant health worker in Lagos, had sneaked into Ekiti last week before she fell into prolonged labour leading to the discovery that she had contracted coronavirus.
Speaking on the incident, Fayemi on Twitter wrote, “Today, we lost the third index case in Ekiti due to complications associated with the COVID-19 virus.
“She left behind a newborn baby. We commiserate with the family of the deceased and pray for her sweet repose.”
