The Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has said that there are now 135,292 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in 54 countries across Africa.
The health agency gave the update in a tweet on its official Twitter account on Saturday morning.
According to the tweet, COVID-19 has killed 3,922 people on the continent, while 56,416 patients have recovered from the deadly disease.
“COVID-19 update in Africa (As of 30 May, 2020, 9 am East Africa Time).
“54 African Union Member States reporting 135,292 cases, 3,922 deaths, and 56,416 recoveries,” it said.
Nigeria is now third in Africa, ahead of Algeria with 9,302 reported cases and 261 deaths, while the North African nation has 9,134 cases and 638 deaths.
The Africa CDC COVID-19 dashboard showed that South Africa and Egypt have continued to top the list of countries with the highest reported coronavirus cases.
