The Akwa Ibom State Government, on Wednesday, discharged 27 COVID-19 survivors in the state after their test results returned negative from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
This was the highest number of patients discharged at once since the state recorded its index case.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong, who stated this at Ibom Multi specialty Hospital, Uyo, noted that only five patients were remaining in the isolation centre.
Ukpong, who noted that the discharged patients spent 19 days at the Isolation centre added that their respective families have already been contacted, and they were returning to a safe environment.
He further noted that no health worker in the state had died due to COVID-19, and urged them to always protect themselves as they were the first responders in the treatment of the disease.
His words, “Today is the day we’ve had the largest number of discharged cases. We discharged 27 people today, and that is very large for this state. What makes it significant is that we have not recorded any loss.
“Those people discharged today are going out in good health and I want to mention that their houses and families have already been contacted, they are in self-isolation, we manage them too.”
