Former United States Vice President, Joe Biden, says the military will escort President Donald Trump out of the White House if he loses the November election but refuses to leave office.
Biden will soon be declared the Democratic candidate, having won the party’s nomination.
In a chat with Daily Show’s Trevor Noah, Biden expressed concern that Trump will “try to steal this election”.
The Democratic presidential nominee cited the president’s linking of mail-in ballots to voter fraud.
Biden said he was confident that if Trump fails to exit, the military would intervene.
“I am absolutely convinced they will escort him from the White House with great dispatch,” The Guardian quoted him as saying.
Tim Murtaugh, Trump campaign Communications Director condemned Biden’s comment.
He called it “another brainless conspiracy theory from Joe Biden as he continues to try to undermine confidence in our elections”.
Murtaugh added that the president “has been clear that he will accept the results of the 2020 election”.
Trump faces condemnation over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the death of George Floyd which sparked widespread protests.
