President Juan Orlando Hernandez of Honduras has announced he has coronavirus.
The President said on Tuesday that he will work remotely while he receives treatment.
“As president of the nation, and a responsible citizen, I want to communicate that during the weekend I started to feel more discomfort and today I was diagnosed as having been infected with COVID-19,” he said in a televised speech, Al Jazeera reports.
“They have recommended I rest, but I will continue working remotely and through my aides.”
Hernandez’s wife and two of his aides have also been diagnosed with the disease.
The central American country has so far recorded 9,178 cases of COVID-19 and 322 deaths. The country has also had 1025 patients discharged.
