The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has asked escorts coming with VIPs to stay away from the airport departure hall when they are reopened.
FAAN stated this in a tweet via its official Twitter account on Friday.
The agency also disclosed that only travelling passengers are allowed into the departure hall.
“COVID-19 Flight Resumption Protocol for Passengers: Escorts coming with VIPs will not be allowed into the departure hall, only travelling passengers,” the tweet read.
DAILY POST reports that this is coming just less than 24 hours after the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has said June 21 is no longer a feasible date for the resumption of domestic flights in the country.
The Director-General of NCAA, Captain Musa Nuhu, stated this on Thursday at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 media briefing in Abuja.
Musa, who represented the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, at the briefing, said it would be disastrous for the country and the aviation industry to reopen the airports on that date.
Earlier in the week, FAAN advised passengers to arrive at the airports three hours before take off to ensure proper checks.
