The Abia State Government has approved the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads in the state.
Rising from it’s weekly State Executive Council, SEC, meeting, presided over by the Acting Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, the council named the approved roads to include the Ukwunwangwu/Ndudu (2.95 km) Road Phase 1, Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA, rehabilitation of Umuenyere Alayi-Item-Nkporo Road in Bende/Ohafia LGA (26km), construction of Amapu Ntigha-Abam Ubakala Road in Isiala Ngwa North and Umuahia North LGA’s (1.0km).
The State Government said the approval for the contract was to further improve the road infrastructure capital in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information in the State, John Okiyi Kalu, and forwarded to newsmen, on Monday.
According to the statement, the council gave approval for the setting up of an Inter-Ministerial Committee to review the Abia State Bio-Refinery Project.
Commissioner for Finance, Aham Uko, and Chief Chijioke Madumere were named as the Chairman and Secretary of the committee respectively.
Members include Engr. Thomas Okoro and Dr. Chukwuma Agu, the committee is expected to report back within four weeks.
“The Abia State Executive Council also approved the resolution on the funding of COVID-19 related intervention activities through budgetary provisions.
“The Executive Council applauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the members of the state inter-ministerial committee on COVID-19 over the successful launching of the state-owned testing center at Abia State Specialist Hospital & Diagnostic Center, Amachara.
