The Osun State Commissioner for health, Rafiu Isamotu, on Sunday, confirmed the discovery of 10 new COVID-19 cases in the state.
According to him, the new cases are from contact tracing of previous cases in Osogbo and Ilesa.
The State’s Health Commissioner, Isamotu, made these known through a statement in Osogbo on Sunday.
There is a high chance that the state could be forced to announce another lockdown, DAILY POST learnt.
Osun State recorded 62 new cases of COVID-19 within eight days.
The number of confirmed cases in the State has risen to 116, while the State now has 64 active cases.
The state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola might be forced to announced new lockdown due to the high numbers of COVID-19 cases it recorded in the past view days.
Osun on Friday recorded 22 new cases, the highest COVID-19 cases the state had recorded in a day.
However, Isamotu affirmed that the Health workers who contracted the virus from a patient, are now back to their beats.
He further cautioned residents and citizens against spreading false information, saying contrary to the rumour making the rounds, there were no fresh cases in any of the hospitals in the state.
On the rumour, the Commissioner said: “When our to the best of my knowledge, we do not have any fresh case or cases in any of our hospitals. All confirmed cases are being treated in state isolation centres. The only case we had in one of our hospitals was that of a patient who later died even before his result came out.
“Immediately after the incident, we decontaminated the hospital and the hospital management continued with their operations thereafter.
“We must collectively join hands with the government to contain the spread of the virus. Spreading false information will not aid our fight against the spread of the virus.
“With the latest development, the number of our active cases as at today, Sunday, June 28, is 64. We have 116 confirmed cases, out of which the State has successfully treated and discharged 47 patients while five deaths have been recorded,” Isamotu added.
