The task force under Presidential Fertilizer Initiative committee has arrested 3 suspects for alleged adulteration of fertilizer.
The Chairman of the Committee and Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar disclosed this while inspecting fertilizer blending plant at Malam Alu farm in Birnin Kudu area of Jigawa State.
He said the suspects had engaged in adulteration of fertilizer, using PFI bags and sold to farmers across the Northwest zone.
He explained that the suspected adulterators were arrested in Kano, Kaduna and Zamfara States while selling the substandard fertilizer packaged as that of presidential fertilizer initiative.
Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar assured that the committee will do all it could to ensure that the quality of the fertilizer under PFI watch is not compromised.
He, however, noted that the presidential fertilizer Initiative will not hesitate in prosecuting defaulters of the committee’s directives.
DAILY POST had reported that, the presidential fertilizer task force said 12 million 50 kg bags of NPK fertilizer would be made available to farmers before the rainy season farming.
General Manager in charged of Mallam Alu Agro Allied company Birnin-Kudu, Mansur Da’u Aliyu said the fertilizer blending plant has been established with a view to reducing the shortages of the commodity in the entire country.
He said when the production starts in full capacity, 6,600 bags of fertilizer could be produced daily.
