Police in Yobe State have announced restriction of vehicular movement within the State before and on Sallah day.
ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Command’s Public Relations Officer in a statement issued on Thursday and made available to DAILY POST noted that the restriction starts from 11:00 pm Thursday 30th and ends at 11am Friday 31st July, 2020.
According to the statement, this is to ensure safety and security of people before, during and after the Eid prayer.
“The Yobe State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that modalities have been put in place to provide adequate security at all praying grounds and places of public gathering around the state before, during and after the celebrations.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police seeks the cooperation of patriotic citizens of the state to confide in the Police and other security agencies by providing useful information and prompt reporting of suspicious persons, movements and objects around their places of abode to the nearest Police station”, it stated.
The statement further enjoined the good people of the State “to use the festive period to offer prayers for peace, protection against the COVID-19 pandemic, stability of the state and country at large.
“In view of the current situation caused by COVID-19 pandemic, the Commissioner of Police advises all District Heads, Imams and all Muslim faithful within the state to observe Eid prayers in accordance with Coronavirus preventive measures to curb the spread of the virus.”
It also quoted the CP as saying, “For the purpose of ensuring security during the Eid El-kabir prayers, there will be restriction of vehicular movement which begins from 11:00 pm Thursday 30th July, 2020 and ends at 11am Friday 31st July, 2020.
“The Commissioner of Police also felicitates with the Muslim Ummah and good citizens in the state and wishes them a happy and peaceful Eid El-kabir celebrations”.
