Kwara State government, on Friday, announced 28 new cases of COVID-19.
According to the latest update on the pandemic by the State Covid-19 technical committee in Ilorin, the death toll has risen to 17 since its outbreak in the State.
The number of confirmed cases is now 781.
Total number of active cases now stands at 495.
Total number of patients discharged has also risen to 269.
About 3490 tests have so far been done, with 2673 returned as negative.
Thirty-six tests are being awaited, the update added.
DAILY POST reports that the state government banned Eid-el-kabir celebrations in public places and cancelled congregational prayers as part of the efforts to curb the community spread of the infectious virus.
However, residents in Ilorin Emirate, held a virtual Eid-el-Kabir two rakat prayers under the guide of the Chief Imam of Ilorin from his residence and transmitted to worshippers at home.
