Uko Nkole, the current member representing Ohafia/Arochukwu Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives and a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to the verdict of an Umuahia High Court which threw out the suit of a faction of the party, seeking the authenticity and cancellation of the PDP Congress held in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State.
DAILY POST reported that the Abia State High Court presided by Justice CCT Adiele, had struck out a suit filed by the Anthony Nwankwo-led aggrieved stakeholders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, challenging the congress held in Arochukwu Local Government Area of the state.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia, held its congress to elect new party officers for local Government Executive Committees.
The Local Government congress produced two executives led by Mr. Anthony Nwankwo and Mr Okemiri Nnwanko.
Both candidates were claimed to have emerged winner of the PDP chairmanship seat during the exercise.
But, speaking on the outcome of the litigations challenging the authenticity of the local government area PDP Congress in a statement, on Friday, Nkole applauded the court ruling, describing it as unbiased and instructive.
The Federal lawmaker urged aggrieved party members to pull the veil off their eyes and begin to see the courts in true light as an impartial umpire, peopled by men and women with deep knowledge of the law and the sacrosanctity of PDP constitution which cannot be misled.
Nkole reminded individuals and parties who may wish to use the judiciary as a template to seek relevance or stall the due process in future political activities of the Arochukwu LGA chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He stressed that PDP has a well-articulated internal mechanism to handle personal reservations and matters arising from nominations as well as elections.
“Arochukwu chapter and Abia State as a whole have come a long way to be deceived by just anybody who may claim to be a member of the party, to be taken seriously as a genuine party man or woman, knowing full well that some are just money mongers with mercantile tendencies and moles planted to sell information to opponents.
“The State High Court was insightful to detect that the suit by Anthony Nwankwo and others ought to have been instituted against the Governor and the party for want of exploring and exhausting all the internal party mechanisms and hence found to be incompetent and non-justifiable”.
