Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has mourned the death of Ago Dala, a former Commissioner of Housing in the state.
The Governor also instructed that all state functions be put on hold on Thursday in honour of the former member of the State Executive Council.
Late Dala died in a fatal motor accident along the Potiskum – Jakusko road on Wednesday, after witnessing the official laying foundation stone ceremony for the construction of Gashu’a modern market by governor Buni.
The deceased, 61, served as a commissioner under the Ibrahim Gaidam regime and is survived by two wives and eleven children.
Until his death, Ago Dala was the Chairman Bade Local Government Environmental and Sanitation Committee.
A statement issued by Buni’s spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, said the governor was saddened by the news of the demise of the former commissioner.
Gov. Buni described late Ago Dala as a dedicated public officer who put his life in the service of the people, his state and the nation.
“Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has received the sad news of the death of Alhaji Ago Dala, a former commissioner who died in a ghastly motor accident along Potiskum Jakusko road on Wednesday.
“Buni described late Dala as a dedicated public officer who lived his life in service to the people, the state and the nation.
“The governor prayed to Allah (swt) to forgive his shortcomings and grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest in Aljannatur Firdaus.
“Meanwhile, Governor Buni has directed for a step down of state function in honour of the late former commissioner”
The remains of late Dala have since been buried in Damaturu.
