Niger State Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello has called on the Federal Government to resuscitate moribund industries in Nigeria to tackle the menace of unemployment among youths in the country.
Bello who made the call while addressing Newsmen in Minna on the 60th anniversary of Nigeria noted that the textiles value chain has the capacity to provide jobs to millions of Nigerian youths.
The governor insisted that resuscitating them would go a long way to reduce idleness and societal ills in parts of the Nation.
While calling for attitudinal change among Nigerians, he stressed the need for governments at all level to open a new chapter towards revitalising the nation’s economy for growth and prosperity.
He also emphasised the need to ensure Nigeria’s refineries becomes fully functional before the end of this year for optimal results.
“I wonder why Nigeria as an oil-producing country now resorts to importing fuel from abroad and that it can no longer produce even toothpick in addition to our refineries being grounded.”
Bello emphasized the need for Governors of Hydro-Electric Power Producing Area Development Commission HYPPADEC to work together to ensure the full take-off of the commission to provide succour and relief to its people.
However, while expressing confidence for a better future, the governor attributed the present sufferings in the country to the action and inaction of successive governments administrations in Nigeria.
