The Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike has said that he isn’t against the End SARS movement which is taking place across different states in the country.
DAILY POST recalls that Wike in a statement by Paulinus Nsirim, the Commissioner for Information and Communications in the State, on Monday banned the EndSARS protest which is to take place today, Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
According to him, the decision to ban the proposed protest follows the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad by Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police on Sunday
However, after a series of backlash from people across the country the Governor in a tweet via his Twitter account on Tuesday evening said he wasn’t against the SARS movement.
According to him, he wants and supports a total reform of the Nigerian police force.
“It is not only ending SARS, every Nigerian should support the total reform of the Police.
“We shouldn’t make a mistake. If we End SARS as they have done, the same police people would be used to form another body.
“That is what I have always supported and called for,” he said.
