Over three hundred contract staff allegedly sacked by the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC on Monday staged a protest to demand their terminal benefits from the Oil firm.
The sacked contract staff protested over the sudden termination of their appointments without benefits.
They’re also protesting the alleged inhuman treatments meted on them in Forcados, Warri, Delta as well as in Bayelsa and Rivers States offices respectively.
Some of the sacked workers said they have not received their benefits for the past fifteen to thirty years since they were laid off.
The sacked SPDC workers were led by Mr. Stephen Enejos, Joseph Ugherughe, Richard Okoro and Martins Ogun.
They asked the Federal and State Governments to come to their aid and address the alleged injustices meted on them.
It was learnt, however, that the SPDC’s Management has begun negotiation talks with the sacked contract staff within the operations of its Western Division.
