The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council(OYC), has asked youths of Igbo extraction and the End SARS protesters to leave the street of the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones.
Ohanaeze made the call in a statement signed by its President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday.
He appealed to the youths to allow the government at all levels address their demands, noting that positive changes could not be achieved under the atmosphere of violence, arson and looting of public and private properties.
The Igbo youth group further commended the governors of the South-East zone for the maturity exhibited by allowing the End SARS protesters to freely exhaust their activities against police brutalities without molestation and arrest.
OYC also berated the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu over incitive utterances as a result of the fallout of the End SARS protest which saw many dead and injured across the country, particularly, at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State.
Recall that the IPOB Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, had directed the people of Southeast and followers to join in the End SARS protest and demand for good governance from President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government of Nigeria.
The Pro Biafran leader had blamed the federal government for encouraging ethnic killings which claimed many lives of Christians in the northeastern part of the country.
However, OYC, in the statement, insisted that Kanu was endangering the lives and properties of the Igbos in the north and South-West zones, maintaining that the latter’s activities do not reflect the general opinions of the Igbos, only for personal aggrandizement.
According to the socio-cultural body, “We predict the downfall of Nnamdi Kanu, because it appears he had deviated from the peaceful approach of non-violent struggle by many Biafra agitators. The recent attitude of the IPOB leader has put Ndigbo in danger, and Igbo youths are reiterating our commitment and determination to resist any attempt by IPOB to venture into Nigeria project and create a breeding ground for war”.
