The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, has summoned four caretaker chairmen in Oyo State.
DAILY POST gathered on Monday that the four caretaker chairmen were summoned by anti-graft commission for allegedly diverting the public fund into private accounts.
Our correspondent learnt that the four caretaker committee chairmen were grilled by anti-corruption agency for allegedly diverting the public fund into their private accounts.
It was learnt that ICPC grilled the chairmen for about four hours in Abuja last Thursday in connection to tractors’ fund.
It was learnt that since assumption of office, the chairmen have allegedly been using councils’ tractors for personal use as well as allegedly contracting them out for business purposes.
Those who were grilled included chairman of Ibadan North-West, Ramoni Olanrewaju Adepoju, Ibadan South-East, Alawode Emmanuel Oluwole, Ibadan South-West, Kehinde Adeyemi Akande and Ibadan North-East, Ibrahim Akintayo.
A source at ICPC office in Abuja informed this newspaper that, “Findings further showed that the chairmen allegedly contracted the tractors for business use at a cost of N80,000 per day and allegedly did not remit the funds into councils’ coffers.
“The chairmen have allegedly been using the tractors for business purposes.
“N80,000 per day since they assumed offices, running into millions of naira but unfortunately, they were allegedly diverting the money into their private accounts.”
All efforts made by DAILY POST to get reaction from the council bosses proved abortive.
Our correspondent recalls that no fewer than thirteen caretaker chairmen were suspended by Oyo State House of Assembly over their failure to submit reports of earth moving vehicles in their respective councils.
The council bosses have, however, been reinstated last week.
