All public and private nursery and primary schools in Rivers State will reopen on November 23.
Governor Nyesom Wike gave the approval on Tuesday.
Chidi Adiele, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, made the announcement in a statement.
He said the reopening is for the first term 2020/2021 academic session, and in line with the school calendar published in August.
Adiele recalled that schools were closed in March due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
“All headteachers, proprietors and other concerned persons should take all necessary steps to ensure safe and hitch-free resumption. The resumption shall be in line with the extant COVID-19 protocols”, he noted.
The state government had reopened tertiary institutions, secondary and vocational schools on October 5.
