Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has presented a budgetary proposal of N140 billion for the 2021 fiscal year.
Presenting the proposal to the State House of Assembly on Monday, Fintiri noted that it is his second budgetary process since he became governor, and tagged it Budget of Stabilization.
He said the proposal, a total of N140,034,404,449; has a larger share of over N72 billion dedicated to capital projects.
The governor said the budget was aimed at consolidating the socio-economic development he has instituted in the state since he was sworn in as governor in May last year.
A broad breakdown of the budget as he read it at the main bowl of the state Assembly Complex in Yola, indicated that works has the biggest sector proposal of over N16 billion.
He said the allocation would be used to advance the rural and urban renewal programme of his government expressed in construction of rural and urban roads as well as the ongoing two flyovers in the state capital, Yola.
The governor thanked members of the House of Assembly for the cooperation which he said he had been receiving from them for the well-being of the state.
Responding to the 2021 fiscal proposal of the governor, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aminu Iya Abbas, said it is a realistic proposal as the governor had evidently pegged the estimates down to realizable limits.
DAILY POST recalls that Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had in December last year presented a proposal of N183 billion for 2020.
The proposal was approved without alteration by the House of Assembly, but the government in May this year pruned it by 24 percent in view of COVID-19 exigencies.
