Shehu Sani, a former Nigerian lawmaker, has hailed former President Goodluck Jonathan for not taking advantage of the prevailing violence and bloodshed being experienced in the country to praise his government.
Recall that Jonathan had at the weekend refused to be drawn into any questions about insecurity in the country and claimed he was the wrong person to speak on the issue.
The former President pointed out that he had his challenges as a Nigerian leader, some of which were similar to the present situation while in office.
“I was there before and of course, you know there was a lot of insecurity.
So, I am the very wrong person to make comments on the insecurity in the land.” Jonathan said.
And reacting to this, Sani commended the former Nigerian leader for refusing to gloat about the failure of the current government.
“Former President Jonathan did not take advantage of the prevailing violence and bloodshed engulfing our country to embellish his tenure, he reportedly said he is not ‘the best person to speak about insecurity.’
“He exemplified humility and statesmanship in this respect.”
