The Abia State Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Chimezie Okwuonu, has expressed satisfaction with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s commitment to health care providers in Abia.
Okwuonu in a statement on Friday, in Umuahia, also thanked the Governor for the ongoing construction work at the road leading to Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) in Aba.
He said: “Following up with the visit of the NMA President and Executives to our dear Governor, and friendly discussions, the Governor made the commitment to health care in Abia State and kindly demanded the same from healthcare workers.
“He stated his resolve to fix the road leading to the Teaching Hospital and pay significant arrears of salary owed. Today, I am a witness to promises being kept. The road leading to the teaching hospital, ABSUTH Aba, is currently undergoing repairs which started this week.
“Thanks a lot to our State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu for coming to the aid of health care in Abia State. We are hopeful on the salary arrears because there is evidence of commitment from him. Am happy and will ensure that such gestures will be reciprocated by the Medical Doctors”.
