- Charges Officers to harness all legitimate resources to improve Policing
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Hakeem Odumosu has decorated deserving senior officers within the command who have just been promoted to the enviable ranks of Chief Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police on Wednesday 6th January 2020 in Lagos.
The decoration ceremony started with the Odumosu decorated by Director General, Institute of Security, Nigeria, Barrister Adebayo Akinade for a job well done on security in Lagos state.
The DG Barrister Adebayo Akinade, said the institute is appreciating Odumosu’s professionalism in Lagos state, “because he has been doing very very well, he has designed and implemented many security strategies which I know is having positive impact on security in Lagos state” he said,
While decorating the officers alongside the newly promoted Commissioner of Police, CP Alli Mohammed, CP Odumosu charged the newly promoted senior officers to be more committed to their statutory duties and display high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties at all times.
“To whom much is given, much is expected, as the command and the Nigeria Police Force expect much from you with your new rank. I urge you to harness all legitimate resources, both human and material, within your reach to improve Policing in Lagos and Nigeria at large”, Odumosu emphasised.
Odumosu also reminded the officers of the force to embrace the concept of community policing of the IGP which is aimed at involving all the sundry in society in problem-solving, conflict management, intelligent-driven policing and general public safety of the country, including Lagos state.
At the State Command, forty-three (43) Superintendent of Police were promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police while two (2) Deputy Superintendent of Police were promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police and three (3) Assistant Superintendent of Police were promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Meanwhile, CP Odumosu thanked the Inspector general of police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu for his fatherly concern on the general welfare of the police personnel across board and the leadership of the Police Service Commission for the consideration of the recommendations of the IGP on the promotions of personnel at various cadres.
The newly promoted Police Public Relation Officer, Lagos Command, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi expresses happiness about the promotion after a four and half year wait. “Am very happy about the promotion, off course if anyone is been elevated into various carrier, one will be happy. It’s a welcome thing. Am happy about the promotion, am sure all my colleagues too are very happy for this promotion. Its long overdue because we have spent almost four and half years on SP ranks but the service commission base on the recommendation of the inspector general of police deem it fit to promote us”.
CSP Kikelomo Oshodi-Glover, appreciate the IGP, service commission for the promotion promising to do more with the new rank and also call for cordial relationship with civilians.
Other, present at the occasion were Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of administration and finance, DCP Oqua Efiom Etim, ACP Ola Agboola, RRS Commander, CSP Yinka Egbeyemi, State PCRC Chairman Apostle Kehinde Showemimo, Victoria Island PCRC Chairman, Mr. Matthew Ibadin amongst others.
