Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi (mnipr), has been promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
Adejobi who was among 48 officers decorated by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Hakeem Odumosu on Wednesday 6th January 2020 in Lagos expresses happiness about the promotion after a four and half year wait.
“Am very happy about the promotion, off course if anyone is been elevated into various carrier, one will be happy. It’s a welcome thing. Am happy about the promotion, am sure all my colleagues too are very happy for this promotion. It’s long overdue because we have spent almost four and half years on SP ranks but the service commission base on the recommendation of the inspector general of police deem it fit to promote us” he said.
With the new promotion, when asked what he will do differently, he said: “Definitely am going to add more work in discharging my duties as PPRO, Lagos Police command, in the area of conflict management, I will be better off, adequate communications, swift response to issues that are very critical to us in the state and be able to assist in formulating polices that will assist in effective policing of Lagos state in all areas. With this rank, much is expected from me and off course I must use all my brain, use anything with me to assist the police”.
He also advice the newly deploy Special Constabulary, which were equipped for specific assignment not “be derailed , not be deceived because they are not regular police men but community policing special constabulary draw from various local governments, various communities of Lagos state to assist and complement the efforts of the police. That’s what we are using them for, they must be law abiding, must remember that they are now part of the policing structure of the state and not leave the life they used to live before they were recruited in the system. We want them to assist the police in their various departments for us to have a better policing of Lagos state. They are expected to be above board and suspicion at this point in time. They should not be found wanting in any way, they must stick to the rules and regulations of the police” he said.
