Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari holding certificate of return
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC just presented the Certificate of Return to Muhammadu Buhari and the Vice-President elect, Yemi Osinbajo, the winner of the 2019 presidential election, in Abuja.
Incumbent President Buhari of the All Progressives Party (APC) polled 15,191,847 votes to defeat the country’s former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 11,262,978 votes in the February 23, 2019 presidential election which held across Nigeria.
In presenting the Certificate of Return, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu argued that the ceremony remained a statutory obligation which must be carried out by the Commission.
