The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) says it has allocated 53,734 tickets for the FIFA U-20 World Cup within 24 hours of the launch of the Visa Presale phase.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the competition tagged “Poland 2019’’ is scheduled for Poland from May 23 to June 15.
A statement on the world football governing body’s website on Wednesday indicated that the tickets were allocated on a special page dedicated for ticket sales on the site.
NAN reports that it is the only official platform for fans to secure their tickets.
“Besides the opening match and the two subsequent group matches of the Polish national team, the most sought-after games are the final in Lodz and the semi-final to be played on June 11, in Lublin.’’
FIFA said there were currently no tickets left for these matches.
In spite of the huge demand and the potential waiting time to access the website, FIFA has gone on to urge all fans to visit the site.
It urged them to check the traffic light system, which gives an indication about ticket availability by match.
“The Visa Presale phase will conclude on March 5 at 12:00 (noon) Central European Time (CET).’’
FIFA added that by March 7 fans would have the opportunity to apply for tickets on a first-come, first-served basis until the day of the final match, June 15.
“Fans will be able to `print at home’, meaning that everyone who has been successful on the site will receive his/her tickets electronically and be able to print them at home in A4 format.
“Each ticket will include a unique barcode that will be checked and validated at the stadium gate as no tickets will be sold at the stadiums,” the football ruling body said.
