Jigawa State Government has inaugurated a 9- member State Flood Control Committee.
Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini inaugurated the committee on behalf of the Governor in his office.
He said the Committee is to assist the Government to mitigate the menace of flood across the State.
DAILY POST reported that flood had killed 20 persons, displaced over 50,000 families and washed away thousands of farmlands across the state last year.
He explained that the committee is to identify critical Areas affected by Flooding along the river bank; identify possible causes of the damage within the affected location and to advise Government on how to proffer solutions to the possible causes.
Chairman of the Committee who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community and Social Inclusion, Honorable Hamza Muhammad Hadejia thanked the State Government for appointing them.
He assured the Government that they would do whatever is possible to justify the confidence bestowed on them.
