A reception ceremony was organised by the presidential task force on COVID-19 (PTF) for the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Nigeria has now received its first batch of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. The 3.92 million doses of the vaccines arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on board an Emirates Boeing 777-300 on Tuesday afternoon March 2.
The Federal government has said health care workers will first be vaccinated.
The presidential task force on COVID-19 (PTF) deemed it fit to hold a reception for the COVID-19 vaccine into the West African country.
According to a post on Twitter by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, chairman of National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA); Osagie Ehanire, minister of health; and Chikwe Iheakwazu, director-general of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), were all in attendance at the reception.
