A serving lawmaker representing Akinyele/ Lagelu federal constituency, Hon. Temitope Olatoye, who was shot on Saturday by some suspected political thugs, is now in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
The hospital spokesman, Mr. Toye Akinrinlola, in a brief chart with DAILY POST, stated that the hospital was trying to resuscitate the lawmaker, though he was in critical condition.
DAILY POST gathered that Olatoye, who lost the National Assembly election to Senate two weeks ago, had earlier voted at his Alape village in Ward 13 Lagelu local government area before he was shot Saturday afternoon.
Though, there are reports that the lawmaker is dead, but Akinrinlola, who spoke on behalf of the hospital, told DAILY POST that the hospital was trying to resuscitate the lawmaker as at the time of filing this report Saturday evening.
Akinrinlola, in a brief telephone conversation with our correspondent, said that the hospital was trying to resuscitate the lawmaker, though he was in critical condition.
Akinrinlola said, “Yes, he has been rushed to the hospital.
“As I am talking to you right now, he is in critical condition.
“He is in the intensive care unit of the hospital. And we are trying to resuscitate him.
“That is what I can tell you right now. He is in the ICU but in critical condition.”
