Kaduna State Police command has apprehended 79 criminal suspects in the month of July.
The alleged various crimes, include armed robbery, kidnapping, cattle rustling, culpable homicide, shop breaking and theft, impersonation and receiving stolen property.
Briefing newsmen in Kaduna on Wednesday on its activities in the month of July, the state police commissioner, CP Ali A. Manga said items recovered from the suspects are
nine (9) Ak47 rifle, one (1) unserviceable LAR rifle and
eleven (11) locally maderifles/ pistols.
Others, according to the commissioner include one (1) pump action, three (3) dane guns, nine hundred and fifty four (954) rounds of live ammunition of different calibre, twenty four (24) live cartridges and1 KIA serato motor vehicle with reg. no TT 547 AA black in colour.
Also recovered are one (1) Toyota Corolla ash in colour with reg. No. GWA 872 FM, one (1) unregistered Mercedes Benz C350 ash in colour, four hundred and thirty nine (439) cattles, eighteen (18) sheep,
eight (8) donkeys and one tricycle with Reg.No.MKA 248 WY.
The rest are six (6) motorcycles, eight (8) plasma television, one (1) HP laptop,
one tiger generator, four (4) cutlasses, one (1) knife, one (1) hacksaw, the sum of thirty thousand (N 30,000) naira only and two (2) handsets.
Others include one face mask,
two pair of canvass, four and half (41/2) bundle of brocade (shadda) materials and eleven (11) caps.
He expressed delight to the commander’s officers and personnel for the successes recorded last month, particularly the professional manner in the handling of the violent protests by members of the proscribed IMN.
He called on the people of the state to feel free and go about their normal businesses as the command had appreciably reduced the rate of crime within the state.
“I am also glad to inform the general public that, we are currently reviewing our structural deployment along Kaduna-Abuja road, Kaduna-Zaria road and Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road with a view to make the highways more safer for commuters while the efforts to rid the command of banditry and other violent crimes continue.
“I therefore, urge members of the public to keep on supporting the Nigeria Police Force with useful information for effective policing in line with the determination of current IGP Muhammad A. Adamu to eliminate all forms of criminal activity in Nigeria,” he explained.
