Governors Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and former interim National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have arrived Ibadan for the 71st posthumous birthday of former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Also in Ibadan for the posthumous birthday is the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi and the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat.
DAILY POST recalls that Ajimobi who ruled Oyo State for eight years as Governor died in June this year.
Ajimobi who left office in May last year would be 71 years old today.
His family members, friends and well-wishers, however, today organised the first posthumous birthday in honour of the immediate past Governor.
Our correspondent reports that the event which is currently taking place at the International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, is Christened 3rd Annual Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable and 71st Posthumous birthday.
The event is organized by Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation in collaboration with the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ibadan.
Wife of the former Governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi in her welcome address, said the annual roundtable was conceived to contribute to intellectual development.
Mrs. Ajimobi who doubles as the President of the foundation noted that her husband would be remembered for good and what he did to improve the state.
Director, Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies, Professor Tajudeen Akanji in his address described Ajimobi as a man of peace.
“He is a man of peace. The roundtable was instituted by Senator Abiola Ajimobi to contribute to the national discourse. We pray may God grant him Aljanah Firdaus. Amin.”
