In continuation of his operational tour of Northwestern Nigeria, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Farouk Yahaya on Thursday inaugurated the newly completed official residence of regimental sergeant major of 8 Division, Sokoto.
The two residences which were built to accommodate RSM of 8 Division and that of Garrison Command were built to give the officers a befitting accommodation.
Yahaya said the inauguration of the residence was part of his welfare agenda in a prestigious recognition of the office of RSM in the Nigerian Army and also to boost their morale to serve the force better.
In his remark the General Officer Command, Nigerian Army 8 Division, Sokoto, Major General Uwem Bassey, said the gesture is part of COAS directive to massively construct a befitting official residence for RSMs in all the Divisions across the country.
The COAS inaugurated other projects at the Garrison Command after touring the barracks to inspect some facilities.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the keys of the houses to the two beneficiaries by the COAS.
