Manta, who made this known in Minna on Sunday, said after his team clamped down on some miscreants who had been terrorising residents in the last threeweeks, the influential people used the Nigerian Police Force to arrest him.
Speaking after his release, Manta described the action of the Niger State Commissioner for Police, Bala Kuryas, as unfair, adding that the report against him by the influential people wasn’t investigated.
“The Commissioner of Police did not investigate the allegations against me by the influencial individuals, who I met in his office, before ordering my detention,” Manta said.
Manta further alleged that his arrest of the boys who have been causing panic within Minna metropolis was the reason he was arrested.
He said, “The problem is the arrest of those miscreants disturbing public peace in Minna. Since some of them have the backing of some influencial individuals, they misinformed the Commissioner of Police and without investigating the allegations, he ordered my detention.
“The commissioner asked why should I arrest the boys without the involvement of the police.”
The vigilante commander said he was eventually released due to intervention of well placed individuals in the state .
When contacted on the allegation, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, denied the allegation adding that the claim was made to smear the image of the commissioner.
Abiodun also added that the main effort of the command is to curb the activities of the street orchins and keeping peace and order in Niger state.
