There is anger in Imo State following reports about a father, Confidence Amatobi, who allegedly broke the arm of his two-month-old son.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect, who is on the run, said the toddler was disturbing his sleep.
The kid was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where the affected hand was amputated to save his life.
The state Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, Mrs Uka Ukachi, on Tuesday, said the commission visited the infant and her mother at Ward 13, FMC, Owerri.
While calling on public-spirited individuals to come to the rescue of the child and his mother, Ukachi called on the police to arrest the fleeing father to answer for his crime.
She said NHRC was committed to ensuring that the victim got justice.
She said, “The man is on the run. The boy’s hand has been amputated. He is at the FMC, Owerri. We want the father to answer for his crime. We demand his arrest. The kid needs justice.”
The police have yet to issue a statement on the incident.
