The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, is one monarch who is very selective about the kinds of parties and other events that he attends.
However, the first-class king made an exception during the week when he attended the ‘collectors preview’ of the Amazing Nigeria photography exhibition organised by popular photographer and publisher of Style Mania magazine, Kelechi Amadi-Obi.
Despite turning 81 earlier this year, the Igwe (king) stepped out for the exhibition not only looking stylish but also with youthful vigour. He walked into the venue of the event dressed in a simple, yet regal outfit— a white flowing gown accompanied with a red traditional cap. He complimented the outfit with his royal staff, some regal neck beads and a brown shoe to match.
The monarch took time to carefully observe the pictures, and he from time to time, he could be seen discussing with the exhibition’s curator. From his demeanour, it was evident that he appreciates art.
Known to be a lover and promoter of culture, Igwe Achebe seemed to be particularly pleased because the exhibition showcases beautiful sights of the country. Amadi-Obi was said to have travelled across the country to capture incredible Nigerian sites, before finally settling on the final 30 that were exhibited.
The monarch also exchanged pleasantries with other notable personalities in attendance. Before exiting the venue, Igwe Achebe had a photo session with some guests.
Other guests at the event include a former Managing Director of Access Bank, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede; fashion designer, Deola Sagoe; singer, Dare Alade; and Ecobank’s Head of Corporate Communications, Jide Sipe
