The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board said it trained a segment of Women Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs on entrepreneurial development under the aegis of Women in Oil and Gas.
It said the two-week training took place in Port Harcourt.
The Manager, Human Capital Development of the Capacity Building Division of the Board, Mrs Angela Okoro, said, “The collaboration between the Board and Empretec Foundation aimed to address the specific needs of female entrepreneurs, by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to establish a strong business foundation and effectively manage corporate governance within their enterprises.”
Okoro explained that the training also came at a time when the Diversity Sectorial Working Group of the NCCF, women were given a right of place in the oil and gas industry for their contribution to the family unit and the society at large, as the Executive Secretary, Simbi Wabote, was keen on human capacity development for women.
She noted that the training had over 70 participants in attendance.
According to her, participants were taught the essentials of running a business, business sustainability, goal setting, budgeting, inventory control management, governance and how to write a business plan.
Also speaking, the Managing Director, Ansett Group, Mrs Edith Akwaeke, encouraged participants to be dogged in their quest to deliver quality service, adding it would stand them out in the industry.
She advised participants to adopt a mindset of being solution providers instead of acting like bosses, and to apply their expertise effectively.
