Pesindeyiz Galatasaray, a Turkish media outlet, has announced that Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray are interested in signing Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The defensive midfielder moved to the King Power Stadium from Belgian Pro League club, Genk, in a £17m deal in 2018.
Ndidi was part of the side that won the FA Cup under Brendan Rodgers in 2021 and finished fifth in the table twice.
The Lagos-born player has one year left on his contract and the Foxes are willing to let him as they hope to cut down following their relegation from the English Premier League last season.
Ndidi is one of the top earners at the King Power outfits and the club, who are set to begin next season’s campaign in the championship, are not interested in renewing his contract following his struggle for fitness in the last two seasons.
In a season that was blighted by injuries, the 26-year-old midfielder made 27 Premier League appearances last season, thus failing to reach his peak.
Ndidi is currently valued at €25m and Leicester are hoping to cash in on him to avoid losing for free next season.
The Nigerian is not short of suitors as he has been linked with several clubs.
Newly appointed Celtic manager, Rodgers, wants a reunion with Ndidi and is looking to make the midfielder one of his first signings at the club.
Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab are also ready to submit an irresistible offer to tempt the defensive midfielder to dump European football for Asia.
Pesindeyiz Galatasaray, on Wednesday, tweeted that the Turkish kings Galatasaray have also joined in the race for the Nigerian.
“Galatasaray are interested in Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City. Ndidi, who did not want to play in the Championship, announced his decision to leave Leicester City.”
