Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed this during a visit to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Abdullahi, at his residence in Lafia on Friday.
He explained that the people of Nasarawa State, like other states of the federation, had been waiting for the palliatives promised by President Bola Tinubu in a recent nationwide broadcast, and expressed joy that the palliatives given to the state were already in his possession.
“The palliatives will be rolled out when Commissioners are inaugurated next week, to alleviate the sufferings occasioned by the removal of the fuel subsidy,” he said.
Sule commended the Speaker and members of the Assembly for the speedy confirmation of commissioner nominees recently sent to the House for screening, and assured of the continued good working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.
He, however, hinted to the speaker that plans were ongoing to replace the commissioner nominee from Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area, Haruna Musa, who had been indisposed for confirmation due to cogent reasons.
The Governor informed Rt. Hon. Abdullahi that upon his arrival after a private visit to the United States of America, he was told that the head of the state legislature was sick, hence the visit to wish him a quick recovery.
“Good health, peace, unity and ease of life is what everybody wants. I am happy to see that you have improved and incorporated. We thank God for that. May God continue to keep us together in unity and good health,” he added.
Responding, Speaker Abdullahi appreciated the Governor for the visit and assured him that the assembly will continue to support the executive arm of government with legislation that would improve the business of governance for the growth and development of the state.
“Your Excellency we missed you so much while you were away. We thank God for your safe return. You just arrived yesterday and you decided to visit me today to sympathise with me, I cannot thank you enough.
“I want to assure you that the honourable members are with you. We will continue to support you to succeed and for the betterment of our people,” the Speaker said.
Our correspondent reports that the State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Aliyu Bello; the State Accountant General, Musa Muhammed, among other stakeholders were at the speaker’s residence to sympathise with him over his ill health.
