Former Bendel Insurance striker, Osarenkhoe Imade, has penned an emotional farewell message to his teammates at the Benin side after completing a move to United Arab Emirates side, United FC, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
PUNCH Sports Extra reported that Imade signed a three-year deal with an option of another year after successfully passing a medical at the club on Monday.
“I am so emotional writing this farewell message. l knew this day would come, because I have long waited for it while fighting with blood and sweat to protect the badge (Bendel Insurance) . It means a lot to me,” Imade said in the message.
“A club I watched at my early stage and heard great stories about and later became a player. The Adaaaa Bendel spirit still goes with me and I promise to be a good ambassador of the club and one day will return to pay my little quota to the club for the platform and exposure they gave me.”
The Petroleum Engineering graduate from the University of Benin made the move to UAE after a successful season in the Nigeria Premier Football League formerly known as the Nigeria Professional Football League – where he scored 10 goals for the Benin Arsenal.
He scored nine goals during the regular season and a crucial penalty in the Federation Cup final against Enugu Rangers which secured Bendel Insurance’s first FA Cup triumph in 43 years and also qualified them for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Imade began the current season with the Benin Arsenal and contributed two goals in two CAF Confederation Cup preliminary games against ASO Chlef and RS Berkane.
His departure comes as a huge blow to Insurance, who face a herculean task in their second leg second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup clash against RS Berkane on Friday.
