Mammam said that if the state Governor, Mohammed Bago, must achieve the “New Niger” that he craves for, he and all his lieutenants must be ready to sacrifice and come out of their comfort zones.
The commissioner made this known on Monday during a press conference where she reeled out the achievement of the governor in the last four months after assumption of office.
“It is now evidently clear thaty the task of developing and transforming Niger State into an enviable “New Niger” as envisaged by the Mohammed Umar Bago-led administration is not only an herculean task that is doable but also with the potential possibility of being achieved.
“The first four months, which coincides with our nation’s Independence anniversary are indeed symbolic and quite eventful. You will agree with me that His Excellency is working tirelessly and deliberately to bring his policy thrusts and campaign promises to reality,” she said.
Noting that the task of setting Niger State on the path of sustainable development is enormous, the Commissioner affirmed that there is hope in the air and early signs of steady progress are glaring.
Mamman listed some of Bago’s achievements in his first four months in office.
“Provision of an edifice of a new divisional police station in Chanchaga following the demolition of a 30 year old structure built on water pipelines that denied over 200 residents of the area of water supply.
“Restoring sanity on the Suleja-Abuja highway by banning traders from displaying their wares and goods and stopping indiscriminate parking during the popular weekly Madalla Market, which repeatedly caused gridlock and prevented free flow of traffic.
“Approved a standing order of monthly payment of N30 million to the National Examination Council NECO to offset the debt the State is owing the organisation. The commissioner put the cumulative debt at N500 million.
“Sponsoring a huge number of citizens for pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia and provision of Sallah welfare package of N100,000 each to the staff of Government House, SSG’s office and some key officers of the state.
“Restoring the dignity of the traditional institutions where the governor paid Sallah homage to all the eight emirs in the state instead of the usual visit by the traditional leaders to the governor.
“Procured and distributed thousands of bags of fertilisers and other farm inputs for farmers for the 2023 wet season farming at subsidised rates:
“Distribution of 20 operational vehicles to the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Police and its sister agencies like the DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA and some other non-conventional security agencies to checkmate all forms of crime in the state.
“Distribution of food items worth N3bn across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state as palliatives to cushion the effect of petroleum subsidy removal on citizens among others”.
The commissioner noted that the above achievements are aside from the numerous National and International engagements the governor has had with various private and governmental institutions, organisations and other nations for the sake of developmental and mutual partnership.
