Treasure Banigo, aka Lifesize Teddy, an artiste signed to Mavin Records, has said that music helps her to ‘unearth her emotions and demystify her feelings’.
Shedding light on the inspiration behind her Extended Play album titled, Poisn, she said, “My music is the major channel I use to unearth my emotions, demystify my feelings and record my experiences.
“The EP is a quick follow-up to my first project, Lifesize Teddy— a girl who is still trying to navigate these waters, but with a clearer vision and understanding of where I am and where I want to be, with even more courage and defiance; the type that literally pulls people in.”
The singer also stated that not being able to spend enough time with her late mother in her last days was one of her regrets.
The Hypnotic singer said, “I lost my mum right before I was unveiled by Mavin Records. In the end, I did not get to spend enough time with her as I would have wanted. The one person I want to share my joy with is not here. It is the craziest price (to pay for my career) really.”
On how growing up on Bonny Island in Rivers State impacts her music, she said, “I have a really rich palette of sounds from growing up on an island. The ‘soundscape’ in the South is only a little different than it is in the West, but I grew up constantly listening to everything from Sir Rex Lawson to Kanye West. That built me.”
