Kizz Daniel’s shared feat with Davido comes amidst mixed reactions on the internet over Davido’s verse on the hit single, which several loyal 30BG Gangs (Davido’s fans) have continued to applaud alongside the music icon’s prowess. In a pool of contrary opinions, music critics and trolls have argued that the DMW Boss’ verse on Kizz Daniel’s “Twe Twe” remix only presents him as mediocre given the lack of substance and relatable and meaningful lyrics in the verse.
Recall that popular social media critic and celebrity tormentor Daniel Regha had previously analyzed the singular controversial verse while rating it a 1/10. Regha, via a post on X, wrote:
“Twe Twe by Kizz Daniel is a terrible song, but Davido’s verse on the remix is worse. He did a bunch of pointless rhymes, like complimenting a lady’s body by calling it a natural disaster (your body looking like a tsunami) or another awful line, “Make a man go keke na pepe.” Lyrically speaking, the song is below mud. It’s a 1/10, thanks to the beats. No offense.”
In spite of the continued progression of these arguments, the “Twe Twe” remix is rather breaking records and attaining both singers another relevant spot in the Nigerian entertainment industry and, by extension, the global music sphere, even as it has overtaken Chike’s hit single, “Egwu,” featuring Mohbad, which had been on the number one spot on Apple Music’s Top 100 Songs for weeks.
The latest releases from other Nigerian artists such as Wizkid, Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi, Odumodublvck, Asake, Omah Lay, and Burna Boy, among others, remain in the Top 10 spots.
It may not be totally out of place to say that these controversies have rather contributed to the rapid success of the hit single, which made it to the highly glorified Apple Music number one spot within 62 hours of its’ official release.
Prior to the release of the remix, the original version of the song “Twe Twe” by Kizz Daniel was also faring well and topping several Nigerian music charts with impressive numbers, having amassed over a combined forty million streams on both Boomplay and Audiomack, amongst other streaming digital platforms.
The original version of “Twe Twe” was released on December 12, 2023, in commemoration of Kizz Daniel’s remarkable 10-year journey in the music industry. The chart-topping single was released almost concurrently with Kizz Daniel’s “Too Busy to Be Bae, another heartwarming afrobeat sound that has caught the interest of Kizz Daniel’s fanbase and several other members of the general global music audience.
Kizz, since his breakout in the music industry in 2014, seems to have carved a niche for himself while discovering what may be described as his secret pathway into the hearts of music lovers across the globe. It is only natural for him to deploy this strategy with every new release, making it go viral and loved by music lovers across borders. We do think that Kizz’s secret path to making his every release a hit song lies in his musical dexterity and an ability to easily adapt to new trends while still maintaining considerable pieces of originality. You might hold a contrary opinion. We wish to know.
