In a remarkable display of commitment to women’s empowerment, CSP Andrew Akinsheye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ojodu-Abiodun Divisional Headquarters, recently delivered an inspiring speech at the maiden edition of Event Diary Lifestyle’s International Women’s Day with Young Girls in Schools.
The event held at Top Teez Academy, Ojodu Abiodun, Lagos State, had as its theme: “Inspire Inclusion, echoing the imperative of nurturing the next generation of female leaders.”
CSP Andrew Akinsheye, who was represented by ASP David Adeboye, in his address, highlighted the power of inclusion, while stressing the importance of celebrating diversity, and recognising the unique strengths that each individual brings to the community.
He urged the audience to embrace their differences, fostering a richer and more vibrant society.
Transitioning to the crucial topic of personal safety, Andrew emphasized the collective responsibility to create a secured environment where everyone feels protected. He encouraged vigilance, while underscoring the significance of prioritizing safety in all endeavours.
On building confidence, CSP Akinsheye imparted valuable insights on the transformative nature of self-belief. He urged the young girls to acknowledge their strengths, embrace their uniqueness, and trust in their abilities to shape their own destinies.
Education and career choices took centre stage as the DPO underscored the pivotal role of learning in personal and professional fulfillment. He encouraged the audience to challenge stereotypic ideas and pursue their passions while embracing education as a lifelong journey.
Addressing the importance of supportive networks, CSP Andrew Akinsheye emphasized the value of mentorship and camaraderie in fostering growth and resilience. He urged the audience to seek mentors and cultivate friendships that inspire upliftment.
On overcoming challenges, he shared stories of resilience and perseverance, noting that setbacks are opportunities for growth, advising the young girls to approach obstacles with determination and a positive mindset, and ability to triumph over adversity.
At the question and answer session, it provided an opportunity for the audience to engage CSP Andrew Akinsheye, who drummed the importance of collective learning and mutual support in shaping a more inclusive and empowered future.
In his final remarks, he urged the audience to go with the spirit of inclusion, empowerment, and inspiration as they continued their journey.
The event graced notable personalities, including Theresa Moses, a seasoned journalist and empowerment advocate; Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo Ayinla nee Daniel, a Sociology graduate from Olabisi Onabanjo University who also holds an Executive Master Certification in Project Management and is a coordinator for “Inside Out” with the Agatha Foundation; Mrs. Helen Olugbemi, Principal of Top Teez Academy; Mr. Joshua Ajaka, a sales representative of Pop Cola, etc., delivered inspiring speeches, emphasising self-belief, perseverance, and the importance of supportive networks. The event also featured informative talks on health and inclusion by Dr. Patrick Oghoghorie, CMD Alheri Hospital, highlighting the significance of personal safety and education.
With a rousing pep talk delivered by Adeola Shittu, the convener and publisher of Event Dairy & Lifestyle, her empowering words served as a catalyst for change, igniting a sense of purpose and determination in the hearts of young aspiring girls to achieve their dreams.
