The Nigeria – South Africa Chamber of Commerce (NSACC) has reiterated the need for proactive and intelligence-driven security strategies for sustainable business growth at its January 2026 Breakfast Forum, themed “From Risk to Resilience: Practical Security Solutions for Business Continuity.”
The forum, sponsored by Protection Plus Services Limited, brought together business leaders, investors, security professionals, and policymakers to examine emerging risks and practical approaches to safeguarding enterprises in Nigeria’s evolving business environment.
In her welcome address, the Chairperson of NSACC, Dr. Ije Jidenma, emphasized that security should no longer be viewed as a reactive function but as a strategic pillar for business continuity, investor confidence, and economic sustainability.
She noted that every generation faces distinct security challenges and stressed the importance of adopting proactive solutions that support resilient economies. According to her, businesses thrive where safety is prioritized, and investors seek environments that guarantee stability and predictability.
Dr. Jidenma also highlighted NSACC’s commitment to supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through strategic engagement, policy dialogue, and the establishment of committees to interface with government and relevant stakeholders.
Delivering the keynote address, Hamza Babangida, CPP, Executive Security Services expert at Protection Plus Services Limited, described security as a critical business enabler rather than a cost centre.
He explained that risk, protection, business continuity, and resilience are interconnected and must be addressed through structured planning, intelligence-led security frameworks, and continuous improvement.

Babangida urged organizations to conduct comprehensive risk assessments before entering new environments, warning that reactive security approaches expose businesses to significant financial, operational, and reputational losses.
“Resilience is not built in a crisis. It is built before one. Hope is not a strategy, preparedness is,” he said.
The panel discussion featured Ibe Nnah, Chief Executive Officer of Stang Security Services Limited, who shared real-world experiences on risk mitigation and the dangers of ignoring professional security recommendations.
He emphasized the importance of confidentiality in security consulting and the role of technology, real-time surveillance, and access control systems in preventing large-scale losses.
The forum concluded with a consensus that effective security strategies reduce operational downtime, improve workforce productivity, strengthen investor confidence, and support cross-border trade between Nigeria and South Africa.
NSACC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting resilient businesses and sustainable economic partnerships through continued dialogue and collaboration.
