More than a decade after her late father told her she would one day become a writer, Mrs. Blessing Amos Bauna has launched her debut book, Raising Her King, Preparing His Queen.
The book was unveiled at a successful launch over the weekend attended by family members, friends, colleagues and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate Bauna’s achievement and the beginning of her journey as an author.
Raising Her King, Preparing His Queen focuses on intentional parenting, encouraging parents to take a deliberate approach to raising children with strong values, character, identity, faith and a sense of purpose.
For Blessing Bauna, the launch carries a deeper personal significance because of a conversation she had with her late father years before she became an author.
She recalled that between 2013 and 2016, while pursuing her first Master’s degree and undertaking postgraduate studies at the Institute of Archaeology and Museum Studies, her father observed the direction her life was taking and told her: “The way you are going, one day you will become a writer.”
Her response at the time was simply, “Daddy, Amen.”
She had no published book or manuscript then and did not know when those words would become reality.
Today, the publication of her first book has turned that prediction into a milestone, although her father is no longer alive to witness it.
Bauna dedicated the achievement to his memory, expressing gratitude for his belief in her and the encouragement he gave her before she fully saw herself as a writer.
Beyond the personal story behind its publication, the book addresses the influence parents have on the development of their children, particularly through the words they speak and the values they model.
Mrs. Bauna urges parents to be intentional about their communication with their children, noting that words can shape confidence, identity, courage and a child’s understanding of purpose.
The book also encourages parents to look beyond providing material needs and pay attention to the character, values and principles being instilled in their children.
Drawing from Proverbs 18:21, which states that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue,” Bauna challenges parents to reflect on the lasting impact of their words and the kind of legacy they are building through parenting.
The launch therefore marked both the arrival of a new book and the beginning of a wider conversation about intentional parenting and the responsibility of families in shaping the next generation.
For Blessing, the journey from her father’s words to the launch of her first book has become a personal reminder of the power of encouragement and the possibility of seeing long-held hopes become reality.
