Nigeria’s representative at the 2026 Miss World pageant, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has bowed out of the competition after making the Top 12, bringing her impressive run at the global pageant to an end in Vietnam.
Karibi-George was among the 12 contestants who advanced to the quarterfinal stage of the competition after emerging through the People’s Choice route. She was also earlier named Africa’s Top Model, securing Nigeria a place in the Top 40.
Although she did not make the final six, Karibi-George’s Top 12 finish places Nigeria among the leading contestants at the 2026 edition of the prestigious international pageant.
The final six contestants were Eritrea’s Snit Habteab Tewoldemedhin, Malaysia’s Taanusiya Chetty, Vietnam’s Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc, Dominican Republic’s Joheirry Mola Dominguez, Spain’s Elisabeth Reynes Alabern and South Africa’s Romanda Hombir.
Dominican Republic Takes the Crown
The Miss World 2026 crown went to Joheirry Mola Dominguez of the Dominican Republic, who emerged winner at the grand finale held on Saturday, September 5, in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
Spain’s Elisabeth Reynes Alabern was named first runner-up, while Malaysia’s Taanusiya Chetty finished as second runner-up.
Mola, 24, becomes only the second woman from the Dominican Republic to win the Miss World crown, following Mariasela Alvarez’s historic victory in 1982.
The 2026 edition brought together 111 contestants from around the world and marked the 75th anniversary celebration of Miss World.
