There will be presentations on sources of law and interpretation, admissibility and access to the Court, reparations and remedies, judicial ethics and conduct, and the responsibilities of Judges within the Court’s collegial environment, among others. The Judges will have hands-on experience in Electronic Case Management System (ECMS) of the Court. The sessions are intended to acquaint the Judges with technology-enabled processes that support efficient case management and improve access to justice.
The programme will further familiarise the Judges with the Court’s administrative and judicial support structures, including registry operations, case-flow management, research and documentation, human resources, administration and finance, information technology, security, protocol, planning, monitoring and evaluation, public information and external relations.
A key component of the orientation programme will be the Court’s Strategic Plan 2026–2030 tagged Justice 2030, which provides the institutional framework for advancing the Court’s effectiveness, accessibility, efficiency and accountability. The session will highlight the culture performance framework including the institutional vision, mission and strategic priorities, and its implications for judicial leadership.
The programme will be facilitated by a former judge of the Court, and staff of the Registry, and Research and Documentation Departments through presentations, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions and plenary deliberations that will enable participants exchange perspectives and develop a shared understanding of the Court’s practices and institutional expectations.
The orientation programme underscores the Court’s commitment to judicial excellence, institutional effectiveness and the delivery of accessible, timely and effective justice in the West African region.
