The National Identity Management Commission has disclosed that givers and receivers of cash transactions of any form at its centres are liable for prosecution.
The commission further stressed that all payments/financial transactions are to be made through the NIMC Remita platform only, prohibiting any cash transaction.
The warning was made in a public announcement issued by the commission.
It was also stated that Nigerians are required to pay the sum of N15,000 to modify their date of birth information.
According to the commission, the sum of N500 each is required for NIN slip reprint and modification of biodata (excluding DOB).
It added that the replacement or renewal of the National e-ID Card would cost N5,000, but card printing services are on hold till further notice.
The commission also said that services like NIN enrolment, NIN verification before enrolment and National e-ID card issuance (first issuance) are free.
However, it said that these payments differ from that of third-party verification service providers.
It added, “Data modifications can only be made in person at NIMC centres only and not by proxy or at partner outlets.”
