- Now She Dreams of Exporting Nigerian Natural Drinks Globally
By Theresa Moses

What began as a small home-based kitchen experiment in 2023 in Abuja has grown into a budding food brand with a bold vision for the future. Sally’s Pastries and Natural Drinks, founded by Mrs. Salome Alamoh, is steadily carving a niche in Nigeria’s fast-growing food and beverage space, combining homemade pastries with refreshing, locally inspired natural drinks.
In an exclusive interview, Mrs. Salome Alamoh, CEO of Sally’s Pastries, shared insights into her entrepreneurial journey, the realities of running a home-based food business in Abuja, and her long-term dream of taking Nigerian natural drinks to the global market.

Starting from her home in Abuja, Mrs. Alamoh began with small-scale production, gradually building a loyal customer base that now includes shops, schools, and private events. Today, Sally’s Pastries offers a wide range of baked goods including cakes, meat pies, donuts, and assorted small chops—products that have become popular for their homemade taste, freshness, and affordability.
Beyond pastries, the brand is also known for its variety of natural drinks, a category that reflects both cultural heritage and growing health consciousness. These include zobo, kunu, kunu aya (tigernut drink), tamarind drinks, sugarcane juice, and fruit-based beverages such as watermelon and pineapple drinks. Each product is carefully prepared with a strong emphasis on natural ingredients and freshness.

For Mrs. Alamoh, the motivation goes beyond business. It is rooted in a personal commitment to healthier living and a desire to reduce dependence on carbonated drinks. Through her products, she promotes natural alternatives that align with increasing awareness around wellness and traditional nutrition.
However, the journey has not been without challenges. Like many small-scale entrepreneurs, access to capital remains a major barrier to scaling production. Limited funding has restricted her ability to produce in larger quantities and meet growing demand.
Electricity supply has also posed a significant challenge in Abuja. Frequent power interruptions have, at times, led to the spoilage of perishable drinks, resulting in avoidable losses that affect both production and income. Despite these setbacks, Mrs. Alamoh continues to adapt and push forward with resilience.
Sourcing raw materials remains a key part of her production process. She regularly visits local “bush markets,” where farmers bring fresh produce directly from their farms. By buying in bulk and carefully storing ingredients, she ensures freshness while also supporting local farmers and rural traders.

Looking ahead, Mrs. Salome Alamoh has a clear and ambitious vision. In the next five years, she hopes to expand Sally’s Pastries and Natural Drinks beyond local distribution, supplying larger companies and eventually exporting her products internationally. It is a dream driven by passion, perseverance, and belief in the global potential of indigenous Nigerian food culture.
