The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reaffirmed the credibility and integrity of the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, dismissing concerns circulating on social media over the accuracy of the recently released results.
The Council, in a statement issued by its Public Affairs Department, said the 2026 examination results were produced through rigorous, transparent and quality-assured procedures that have guided its operations for decades.
WAEC said the examination was conducted in accordance with its established standard operating procedures and relevant educational policies, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.
The Council’s response follows what it described as a growing wave of public commentary, particularly from content creators and social media commentators, questioning the credibility of the results.
While acknowledging the public’s right to scrutinise examination outcomes, WAEC urged candidates, parents, schools and other stakeholders to exercise caution and avoid relying on unverified claims circulating online.

According to the examination body, every candidate’s script passes through a multi-tier quality assurance process involving marking, moderation and auditing.
WAEC said the process is based on standardised marking schemes and supervised by vetted subject experts to promote objective and fair assessment.
The Council maintained that these procedures are designed to safeguard the integrity of the examination and ensure that candidates receive results that accurately reflect their performance.

The examination body also reminded candidates and members of the public that it has established channels for addressing queries and grievances relating to examination results.

It, however, urged stakeholders to seek clarification through official channels whenever concerns arise.
